Dr. Peter G. Nicholson, Associate Professor and Graduate Chair of the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering, was recently asked to attend a meeting at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ headquarters in Washington, D.C. where he was awarded the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal by Assistant Secretary of the Army John Paul WoodleyJr., and Lieutenant General Carl A. Strock, Chief of the U.S. Corps of Engineers. This award is one of the highest Army honorary decorations that can be awarded to a civilian. The award was made at a ceremony held on February 12, 2007, for assistance with field assessment and data acquisition, investigations, and contributions to the Hurricane Katrina Interagency Performance Evaluation Task Force.
